Just realized I screwed up an email submission

I submitted what I thought was a story a while back. I was just going back through my emails and noticed that instead of the story, I'd just attached my cover letter. The kicker is that I ended up overwriting the story with said letter. Luckily I was able to find another copy in an older email from a publisher that rejected it. The problem is that I redid the story, changed the ending and ended up adding like 600 words to it! SHIT!!! And I was wondering why I didn't hear anything back from them...

  1. Ouch! As the mayor of Boston would say, "That really fries my nose."

I recall something similar happening to me years back, though I managed to find an older backup that wasn't too different from the draft I'd lost. Keeping track of subs can be a full time job.

  2. LOL. Aw, don't worry. I just submitted a cover letter for a job application with a typo in it. No big deal? Well, the position was for an editor. :-/

  5. You know what's cool, though? I was able to recover it from recently viewed docs in Word! I love 2010!
